Fun Fishies!

As it is mustache-growing-competition-time, Nate is sporting a bit of lip hair, I see!
These are last night's pics of the kids' boating expedition, which originally started out as Bailey seated in a WalMart chair at the front of their boat, riding the waves like a roller-coaster...when the line went "ZING!" and Nate played in a nice fish--moments later Bailey toughened her biceps playing with another...and then an even bigger fishy was caught. Can't talk about the shark that got away--I see no photographic evidence! But it all sounds fun! : )
Think of us Kansans suffering at zero degrees... : (

An Inherent Sickness of Sameness

I would say that our family is extremely creative and inventive. We all have our own styles and strengths which cascade forth in obscure, inconsistent, and unpredictable weird, wild, clever ideas!

We build, sew, draw, glue, file, hack, paint, saw, weld, stitch, clamp, drill, and sand a number of unique items that inevitably reach their artful conclusion beautifully complete (or not!) or simply as an item 'of use'.
Despite the numerous genuine compliments received on any given project, I would say that an odd illness permeates our family: we suffer from boredom, sometimes a lack of confidence, and an aggravating sense of 'sameness', which despite our successes, tends to cause a slow shut- down of spirit, a restlessness, a driving desire to 'move on'.

Baffling to others, our interesting projects do not hold our OWN interest; we are destined to try something 'new', thus broadening our horizons, to experiment, to play. The current work is tucked away to the past (temporarily or forever), while a new agenda is formulated to its utmost level of completion.

While these projects are all well and good and deeply satisfying to a great extent (until 'sameness' attacks once again), I sadly see no vast monetary fortunes on our horizons, but at least we've harvested a personal richness and we all love to communicate our trials and tribulations to each other.
Make stuff!

An Exhibition of Our Family's Creative Interests

This blog is designed to display a wide range of projects, some of which (quite possibly) have an interesting story or two! Major 'players' include Bailey and Nate, as the Molokai Kids, and the rest of our family and some friends...and whomever else has a bit of cleverness in their system! No special time frame here....we've all used our hands and brains for years. Mostly.

Naturally, there will be fish stories...

Will post the fishies later...!

Apparently Daffers won't stay off the furniture. Bad Dog!

Apparently Daffers won't stay off the furniture. Bad Dog!
Not a 'true' invention, by the way! But now that I think about it, the Hawaii furniture was either a rolled-up sleeping bag, a cooler, or a slightly-damaged lawn chair that a couple beers improved if you didn't mind slouching sideways...!

Franken-Fish

In the spirit of Halloween, we are all looking forward to "Frankenfish", the Molokai kids' attempt at ocean taxidermy.
Pull that puppy out of the closet!

Err, I mean fish.

The Frankenfish

The Frankenfish
The infamous taxidermied fish, pulled from the depth of a dark closet; rather dark and mysterious, just like the ocean depths....
