Sandman Cometh.

2 pics of the cabin floor being restored in Homer. Lots of elbow grease, and I'm glad they wear masks!

Bridge over River Kwai...

One of many wood projects in the yard...Better not slip off the icy wet boards in the winter! Also....Nate displays some silver salmon. Cooked on their Irish wood stove, I'm sure it was delicious.

Reinventing All Around!

The kids have the most awesome in-town place--yet wilderness abounds. Turkey, pheasant in their yard; creeks with several bridges in need of repair; goat pen, chicken house, barn, green house, shed, guest place-- and all filled to the brim with the last owners unwanted items. (See the TRASH page...)
Salvaging building materials, they are hard at work turning a house into a home! I am so impressed! I want to explore too...

Its Two at a Time Fish!

Last week's camping trip: fishing, berry-picking, 4-wheelering, drinking polar beer, visiting with friends and living in a "yurt"!

Gun Stocks

Cool Uncle Darrell (did I spell that right? Daryl? Yikes--brainlapse) gave Brian some coffeebean tree wood so he started some little gunstocks for a pistol. He said it was a very nice working wood--the little wormholes are added character!

Handmade Knife

Bri brought a little handmade kuhnifee back from Georgia--made from steel and parachute cord weaved in and out of holes. When I jokingly said I needed to shave my legs, he told me that it would--and it does. Seems pretty scary to keep knives so sharp; I think I've had to take Teg and Bail both to the hospital for stitches, Brig 3 times or more. It gives me the shivers!
More examples later...

Wamego Prom

I think I need to add a new inventor to the page! Last year Paula sketched out an idea for her prom dress and her and her mother created it last week. I really really appreciate those who are still willing to sew and create something time-consuming and elaborate! Kudos to them-it's becoming a lost art.
I took pics a few minutes ago and was reminiscing about all the dresses I had made...and am in the mood for another. I still love the wedding dress top from last summer that was created for Bailey...Anyway, here are Brigham and Paula on their way to Della Voce for supper. Whew--glad he picked a nice restaurant!

Darling Knife...scroll for more...

Brian has created this tiny knife, so cute, in-between gun stock carving....sometimes you just HAVE to turn your attention to a new distraction, so things don't become tedious...
Well. Those are my thoughts. Maybe I'm getting 'middle-school mind'. Attention span of a gnat...

Old Man and the Sea

"Stingray comin' for my heart!" These were Tegans words posted on the pics of his 1st diving experience--a 'flock' of stingrays hovering in the background--just a few days after Steve Irwin was drilled in the heart--CRIKEY!
Nate and Bailey had another great fishing evening, catching some good-sized fishies in the calm glassy water, when something 'different' hit the line...and they couldn't get it in. Using Brigham's red line and Tegan's reel, Bailey's biceps burned for an hour and so did her ears, as Nate was giving advice on what to do as the wind came up and the ocean grew choppy...her stomach churned...dusk was coming and the boat was moving slowly but surely away from shore...WHAT was on the line!? A shark? Nessie? Creature from the Black Lagoon? Blue Lagoon? Brooke Shields?
Nate and Bail gave a massive jerk, hoping to break the line and the monster arose...a Stingray!!! Watchout! The ray was finally, and none-too-carefully, wrestled on board whereupon it later met its fate with a sharp knife, a grill, an oven, and eventually a frying pan too--a delicious, non-fishy, light, white meat. Yum.

An Exhibition of Our Family's Creative Interests

This blog is designed to display a wide range of projects, some of which (quite possibly) have an interesting story or two! Major 'players' include Bailey and Nate, as the Molokai Kids, and the rest of our family and some friends...and whomever else has a bit of cleverness in their system! No special time frame here....we've all used our hands and brains for years. Mostly.

Naturally, there will be fish stories...

Will post the fishies later...!

Apparently Daffers won't stay off the furniture. Bad Dog!

Apparently Daffers won't stay off the furniture. Bad Dog!
Not a 'true' invention, by the way! But now that I think about it, the Hawaii furniture was either a rolled-up sleeping bag, a cooler, or a slightly-damaged lawn chair that a couple beers improved if you didn't mind slouching sideways...!

Franken-Fish

In the spirit of Halloween, we are all looking forward to "Frankenfish", the Molokai kids' attempt at ocean taxidermy.
Pull that puppy out of the closet!

Err, I mean fish.

The Frankenfish

The Frankenfish
The infamous taxidermied fish, pulled from the depth of a dark closet; rather dark and mysterious, just like the ocean depths....
